CITE Submission Guidelines

Submission Guidelines

CITE will include three major categories of articles

To read about the types of articles published in CITE Journal, go to the About page of the journal website or visit the journal section in which you are interested in publishing.

Submitting to the CITE Journal

All submissions MUST be sent in electronic form using the article submission form.

General Guidelines

Material must be original, reflect the integrity expected of scholarly communication, and demonstrate a coherence and unity that makes the paper both understandable and interesting. Before submitting an article, please review the following suggestions. Original manuscripts received in correct form serve to expedite the review process, others will be returned to author. Spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, and the mechanical elements of arrangements, spacing, length, and consistency of usage in form and descriptions should be studied before submission. All photographs submitted with manuscripts must include a copy of a signed permission form from the copyright holder.

Length

Because this is an electronic journal the length of papers may vary. The length of your paper should be appropriate to the topic and focus. We will accept some papers that are only two or three pages long and some that are as long as 40 or 50 pages. The critical issue is whether the length is appropriate.

Originality

All manuscripts must be original. No manuscript will be considered which has already been published or is being considered by another magazine or journal. However, if work described in conference proceedings is substantially revised and extended, it will be considered. Submission of a manuscript represents certification by the author that the article is not being considered nor has been published elsewhere.

The format of headings, tables, figures, citations, references, and other details should follow the APA style as described in the most recent edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, available from APA, 750 1st St., NE, Washington, DC 20002 USA.

NOTE: Only papers written in English (US or British) will be considered for publication. AACE will not edit submitted manuscripts for style or language. Also, reviewers may advise non acceptance of a manuscript if there are an unacceptable number of grammatical errors.

Therefore, authors are expected to ensure that their submissions are sufficiently edited for publication. Non-native speakers of English are advised to have their papers edited and may wish to consider using a copyediting service.

Manuscripts sent to the Editor for review are accepted on a voluntary basis from authors. Before submitting an article, please review the following suggestions. Manuscripts received in correct form serve to expedite the processing and prompt reviewing for early publication.

Spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, and the mechanical elements of arrangements, spacing, length, and consistency of usage in form and descriptions should be studied before submission.

Pre-publication

No manuscript will be considered which has already been published or is being considered by another journal.

Copyright

Copyright for CITE Journal articles is retained by the author(s), with first publication rights granted to the journal. CITE Journal is an open-access journal distributed under the terms and conditions of the Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International license.

Author Note(s):

Financial support for work reported or a grant under which a study was made should be noted just prior to the Acknowledgments. Acknowledgments or appreciation to individuals for assistance with the manuscript or with the material reported should be included as a note to appear at the end of the article prior to the References.

Handling of Manuscripts

All manuscripts are acknowledged upon receipt. Review is carried out as promptly as possible. The manuscript will be reviewed by at least two members of the Editorial Review Board, which takes approximately five months. This is a double-blind review process; please be sure that your name does not appear anywhere in the manuscript or in the filename. When a decision for publication or rejection is made, the senior author or author designated to receive correspondence is notified. At the time of notification, the author may be asked to make certain revisions in the manuscript, or the Editor may submit suggested revisions to the author for approval.

Presentation

Accepted Submission File Formats - All submissions must be sent in electronic form using the Article Submission Form. No hard copy submission papers will be accepted.  Do NOT submit compressed files. Do not use any word processing options/tools, such as--strike through, hidden text, comments, merges, and so forth.

Submit your manuscript in either of the following formats:

Manuscripts should be double-spaced and a font size of 12 is preferred.

Length - In general, articles should not exceed 30 double-spaced pages. Long articles, or articles containing complex material should be broken up by short, meaningful subheads.

Title sheet - Do NOT include a title sheet. Manuscripts are blind reviewed so there should be no indication of the author(s) name on the pages.

Abstract - An informative, comprehensive abstract of 75 to 200 words must accompany the manuscript. This abstract should succinctly summarize the major points of the paper, and the author's summary and/or conclusions.

Multimedia

Any graphics that go in the article must be submitted as separate files. The highest quality master is preferred. Additionally, the graphics must also be embedded in the correct locations within the document so the copyeditors know the proper placement. Please note that any graphics created in Microsoft Word must also be submitted as separate files.

Tables - All tables (i.e., data displayed in rows and columns) must be placed at the end of the manuscript. A notation may be placed near the first reference to the corresponding table, such as "Place Table X about here." Lengthy tables are discouraged as they are difficult to read online.  If lengthy tables are necessary, they may be reformatted by CITE Journal as downloadable pdfs.

Figures - Graphics (e.g., charts, graphs, photographs, and drawings) must be placed withing the manuscript and also submitted as separate files. Figure graphics must be in either .GIF, .PNG, or .JPG format. Filenames for figures must be clearly labeled as Figure 1, Figure 2, etc. Captions for figures should be included in the manuscript. All figures must be referenced within the text of the article.

ALT tags will be applied to all graphics. The default tag will be the figure caption supplied by the author. Authors should provide tag text for any graphics used as links to audio or videos.

Photographs - All photographs submitted with manuscripts must include a copy of a signed permission form from the copyright holder.

Appendices - All supplemental text not falling under the definition of a table or figure will be considered an appendix. Appendices should be placed at the end of the manuscript, after the reference list. If possible, authors should provide a link from the reference to the appendix in the manuscript (e.g., see Appendix A) to the beginning of the actual appendix.

Videos Authors may choose to upload video files to a public online video site such as YouTube or Vimeo and insert the embed code in the manuscript. All videos should be referred to in the text as Video 1, Video 2, etc. If the author prefers to upload videos for archiving on the CITE Journal site, video files must be submitted in a web-optimized format as to allow for progressive-download. The preferred formats are Windows Media, Real, or Quicktime. Video filenames should include the corresponding video numbers from the text. Authors must provide a link to the video within the article. This link could be a text link (e.g., Video 1) or a still frame from the video (i.e., a .GIF, .PNG or .JPG file). As encoding video for the web may sometimes require specialized skills, the author may contact the projection staff (michael@aace.org) for assistance.

Audio files - Audio files must also be submitted in a web-optimized format in either Windows Media, Real, or Quicktime formats. Audio files should be identified in the text as Audio 1, Audio 2, etc., and audio filenames should include the corresponding audio numbers. Authors must provide a link to the audio within the article. This link could be a text link (e.g., Audio 1) or a related graphic.

Supporting files - Supporting materials must be in format that can be read by the majority of viewers, such as PowerPoint or PDF. Proprietary supporting materials must be converted to a common file format.

Quotations

Copy all quoted material exactly as it appears in the original, indicating any omissions by three spaced periods. At the close of the quotation, give the complete source including page numbers. A block quote must be a minimum of 40 words or four lines, single spaced.

Terminology and Abbreviations

Define any words or phrases that cannot be found in Webster's Unabridged Dictionary. Define or explain new or highly technical terminology. Write out the first use of a term that you expect to use subsequently in abbreviated form. Abbreviations ( i.e., e.g., etc.) are only acceptable in parenthesis, otherwise they must be spelled out, that is, for example, and so forth, respectively. Please avoid other foreign phrases and words such as via.

Citations

Citations should strictly follow American Psychological Association (APA) style guide. As per APA all citations must match the reference list and vice versa.

References

Authors are responsible for checking the accuracy of all references and that all references cited in the text also appear in the Reference section. All references should be in alphabetical order by author (unnumbered) American Psychological Association (APA) lastest edition, style. Citation examples (1) book and (2) periodical:
